About Disrupt Menopause
Why We Fight for Menopause Justice
One generation suffering in silence is one too many.
Hey, I’m Deb McCarren—writer, researcher, girl mom, and grandmother.
After years of being misdiagnosed, dismissed, and made to feel like I was losing my mind, I finally found a menopause-literate doctor who knew what to look for and how to treat it.
She prescribed MHT—and within weeks, I felt like me again. Clear. Grounded. Whole.
Getting Better Didn’t Bring Peace—It Brought Purpose.
But just as I was finding relief, I realized something devastating:
my daughter had been going through the same thing—right in front of me—for two full years.
She had all the classic symptoms:
Intense night sweats. Brain fog. Mood swings that left her shaken. Insomnia. Joint pain. Exhaustion.
But like me, she didn’t know it was perimenopause—and no doctor told her otherwise.
She got help. And thank God, she’s doing better now. But what a shame she suffered so long.
What a waste of time, health, and peace.
I'm Doing This So Our Granddaughters Won't Have To.
For generations, we’ve been told to tough it out. To stay quiet. To take care of everyone else while we fall apart behind closed doors.
But in my family—and hopefully in yours—that silence ends with us.
I’m doing this for my granddaughters.
So they’ll never have to wonder if they’re going crazy. Never have to lose years, relationships, or careers to symptoms no one took seriously. Never have to suffer in shame.
If we do this right—if we fight loud, clear, and together—
they’ll never know the horror and disruption we lived through.
If This Story Feels Familiar, You're Not Alone. And You're Not Powerless.
The system failed us—but we are not helpless.
The silence ends with us—but only if we end it together.
If you’ve been through it—and you’re ready to do something about it—this movement is yours.
Let’s make sure no woman, no daughter, no granddaughter has to go through what we did.
